What is the best way for me to get my desired job? (Which would be Airborne Cryptologic Linguist) I scored high enough on my ASVAB to qualify and all I have to do is take the DLAB test to see if I have the ability to learn a new language. Is there ANY way to negotiate? What if there isn’t an available spot for that job, can I wait for a spot to open up? Do you know if a slot for this job is high in demand?

I really can't answer that question very well unfortunately, because a lot of it depends on your recruiter, what jobs are available, the job counselor at MEPS, etc. I've heard of some people waiting until the job they want is available, but some recruiters consider that being "job locked" and they'll just move on to the next person that will take any job. Considering how hard it is to get into the AF right now, being difficult to work with is not a way to get the recruiters to help you.

Linguist is a job that is usually in high demand though, so if you do end up qualifying for it, I don't see why the recruiter wouldn't want to fill that slow if he or she could. Not many people qualify for it so they'd probably try to get you in there. But again it's impossible to say for sure.
